The Model 50 Mason & Hamlin studio piano is much like a small grand piano standing on its hind legs. The 50" tall instrument has a Robert Gertz scale design for a richer, fuller tone palatte than most Asian-designed studio pianos. Unique to the manufacture of the Model 50 is another Gertz innovation--a tension resonator, which in an upright is a metal rod connecting the two side panels of the cabient. This rod adds strength and rdgidity to the cabinet and locks the soundboard into its permanent "crowned" shape.
